Research position in knowledge representation -- ITC-irst, Trento, Italy

Applications are invited for a research scientist at the Automated
Reasoning Systems division, Center for Scientific and Technological
Research (ITC-irst), Trento, Italy. The selected candidate will work
in the Knowledge Representation and Reasoning group under the
supervision of Dr. Luciano Serafini partly on the EU funded project
"PatExpert" and partly on the Fondo Unico "OntoText: From Text to
Knowledge for the Semantic Web" project. Full details on the projects

The ideal candidate should have experience in one or more of the
following topics: Ontology Engineering and OWL, Knowledge
Representation and Reasoning, Semantic Web Technologies, Logics, and
Artificial Intelligence. A PhD (submitted or obtained) in computer
science (or related discipline) or equivalent relevant research
experience are necessary. The candidate must have a good publication
record in one or more of the areas listed above. He or she must be
capable of working in a team as well as proposing and pursuing new
research topics.

The Automated Reasoning Systems division has about 50 people in it,
including staff research members and postdocs, Ph.D. students, and
professional programmers. The division also hosts several masters and
bachelors students. Research topics include Knowledge Management, Web
Services and Distributed Processes, Adaptive Advisory Systems,
Software Engineering, and The Development and Validation of Embedded
Systems. The mission of the Automated Reasoning Systems division is
centered around top quality scientific research and innovative

The appointment will be on a fixed term contract for 36 months. The
post is available from 1 September 2006, or a later date by negotiation.

Salary: Up to 21500 Euros p.a. after taxes
